Busy Life

Wow.
SO much has happened since my last blog post!

For starters, I finished the scrapbook of my trip to South America last summer.
(my last post was all about everything I bought to make that scrapbook)

My computer got a virus, and I’ve been without one until this very moment.
I have great ideas to blog a lot and I really wanted to after my last post but without my computer I couldn’t really do it.
I still have things I want to blog about though, so maybe I will get those together soon! 🙂

I graduated High School!!!
Well, sorta…
Being homeschooled is great and it does have its advantages…but because of state laws I can’t take the GED, that is required to signify the end of my high school education, until I’m 18. (January)
But I was able to participate in our home school graduation with all of my very best friends, and It was absolutely wonderful!

I’ve had a whirlwind of a summer!
Starting with a trip to the mountains for a week where I got to photograph my first wedding with my best friend!
If you have to experience a new first, I highly recommend doing it with your bestie!
It makes it that much better!!!

One week later we flew back to Armenia, Colombia for my second missions trip!
I love it! It’s always such a great experience!
The missionaries and pastors there are the most loving people you will ever meet!
We are there to help them in ministry and they want to take care of us!
And they do take such very good care of us!
I could do a whole separate blog post just about my time there!

We were there for a week, home for a week, and then back on the road again!
Summer Camp!
This was my third year at church camp and it was the best year i have ever been to!
Not that the other 2 were bad, because believe me God changed my life every time!
But this year was different!
The Holy Spirit moved every night, and the Lord was being glorified!
The speaker this year, spoke to us on a very serious note!
He didn’t hold anything back “just because we are teenagers”. And I completely respect him for that!

And a week after we got back from camp, I had my wisdom teeth taken out.
I was totally freaked out about getting an IV and i was so relieved when the nurse put the needle in and told me it was over!
I barely felt a thing!
I remember them getting me a blanket and then feeling slightly dizzy and asking them if I was supposed to be dizzy, and then i woke with the hiccups!
{insert laughing emoji here}
For a week I ate like a toddler, everything was in the tiniest bites it possible could be!
But I had quite a few milkshakes, which was lovely!
I’m mostly healed now, but i still have to rinse my mouth everyday and some stuff is easier to eat than others.
I ate a salad today for lunch and felt like i needed a nap afterwards! LOL!

And on top of all of that!
{drum roll please}

I have lost 35 pounds since January 1st, 2015.
I have gone from a size 18 pants to a size 10-12, and I went from a size XL shirt to a Medium!
I still can’t believe I’ve done all of that!
My goal is to lose 50 pounds, making me 150 pounds.
I’m not quite there yet, but I’m not finished yet either! 🙂
I would like to start working out a little and get some muscle tone…
Again, I did all of this along side my best friend and we have both had such great success!
I’m so happy for us! #wehaveskinnypicturesnow 😉

Life is better with a best friend guys, and I have a great one!

And in between all of these crazy life adventures I’ve done commissioned paintings that helped me get back to Colombia, and after that have helped me get this laptop that I am typing on right now!
All of those painting commissions are blessings from God!
God is great, and His timing always works out better than mine!
I never remember that in the midst of waiting, but i know it better and better after every wait is over!

Wow.
What a year already and its only the end of July!

Let’s see what else I can do this year!

Thanks for reading!

Knowing God is in Control and He Cares About What I Care About

This blog started as a craft blog, but it has recently become a place for me to write out my thoughts from my time spent with God…Maybe it’s just for me to read in future years to remind myself of God’s greatness and faithful, or maybe somebody has stumbled upon this post from pinterest or you are one the 171 people who have ever looked at my blog, but either way it feels really good to write it out. 🙂

I wrote out the first part of this on my instagram lastnight, so here is that post:

2014 - iphone 580

The past few days I have been feeling alittle out of place in my spiritual routine if you will…I read Matthew a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it so I kept on in the New Testament. Then I switched it up to study some stuff for Sunday school, and I couldn’t get back in a groove of reading. So…this is one of the many reasons I know God loves me..he speaks to me through Pinterest! As crazy as it sounds he did, he truly does care about our desires! I was on Pinterest not even looking for bible related things…I was actually looking up crafty ideas for gifts, when a pin showed up that was about scripture study for women…almost without hesitation I opened it! She talked about how Bible reading and prayer is a privilege not a to do list item that has to be checked off! <-Bingo! Hit home right away! I kept reading and really liked some of the tips that are super simple but sometimes I need to be reminded of. In one of the tips she recommended picking one book of the Bible and studying it (I’m talking, read…re-read…read it again…take notes…repeat) she said she like to do that with Ephesians because it is only six chapters and you can have a day off if you get really busy or whatever. So read it and then the next week re-read it and so on. December 1st..on a Monday…perfect time to start this mini Bible study! December second, open Bible app and where is the verse of the day from? Ephesians 2! Coincidence? Nope. God planned! Confirmation that you’re doing the right thing…comfort…and just to remind me that he is in control and he knows what I’m going through on the inside and wants to take care of everything! I felt led to share this with you tonight…or maybe I just needed to write these thoughts down for myself to see next year when this is on my time hop? Either way I hope this encourages you as much as it does me! ☺️❤️ #praiseGodfromwhomallblessingsflow #celebrateyourfaithfulnesstome #toGodbetheGlory #Godisgreat!

mentioned link: http://www.thetinytwig.com/2014/10/23/bible-reading-modern-woman/

That was lastnight.
Today, God continued to blow me away and the sermon at youth group was about the same thing that the link was about!
Why do you do what you do?
Why do you believe in God?
Why do you read your Bible and Pray?
Is it becuase you are hungry to learn more and have a deeper knowledge of God,
or is it so you can check something off of your to-do list and get your “get out of hell free” card punched?

The whole way through service tonight all I could think was WOW!
like i said last night.. coincidence? No..God planned!

He is great yall! He knows what we need, when we need it, and he knows how to get our attention too!

I just wanted to share this encouragement with you! 🙂
If you want to share something amazing God has done for you, leave it in a comment I love to here testimonies of God’s faithfulness and love! 🙂

1st illy coffee ~ Scrapbook Layout

You may remember my smash book haul i did a while back…

Well shortly after that I decided I wanted to start scrapbooking too!
Before my missions trip someone gave me a scrapbook to fill with pictures when I got back.

I’m totally in love with it now!
I made a few layout a few months before my trip, but after I got back i filled up the scrapbook and had the best time!!!

I love watching scrapbook videos to get inspiration and I have a Pinterest board full of inspiration which you can find here. 🙂

But today I want to share my most recent layout!

I follow Studio Calico on instagram and i kinda challenged myself to use their mood boared to create a layout.

Here’s the mood board:

Studio Calico October 2014 mood board

The first thing I decided I wanted to use was the teal squares….

Illy scrapbook 1

I cut some rectangles of some black and white striped paper…
I was going to make the same shape as in the mood board but this happened and I liked it better! 🙂

I didnt want to put my picture directly on it though so I wanted to mat it on a bright teal color.

10718925_770820852974929_1077856836_o10733041_770820786308269_814613459_oIlly scrapbook 2

I used Aqua India Ink and a plastic wrapper to make my mat.
I put the plastic wrapper on my hand like a glove and dropped some of the color on the hand and smeared it on the paper into the square shape that I needed and just kept making it bigger until it fit my picture.
I didnt want it to be completely painted to I left it a little white on the corners and then I rough cut the square around my picture.

10732208_770820726308275_923762967_o

I added some torn vellum and attatched my picture to the inked paper…
The paper did curl a bit but nothing some adhesive wont fix…

I shifted the whole thing to the left and got really into layering…
And i forgot to photograph the rest! (“oops”)

But here’s the final picture!!!

10744153_771762882880726_73454939_o

I think my favorite (most inventive) part of this layout is the #1 at the top right side…
I started out using a white piece of thin cardboard cut into the shape of a 1 that I stamped with red ink…
when I stamped it It was laying on my notepad and left this cool void and I thought it looked really cool and went with the number 6/industrial element on the mood board.

Other things that were inspired my the mood board:

“illy coffee” speech bubble, greenish triangles, “oh hello”, orange sewing, “sweater weather, is coffee weather”,
rose gold metallic feathers, rose gold metallic dots.

And the finishing touch was to add some journaling around the top edge of the page…

I love how it turned out and its a different color palette for me and I really like it!
This mood board thing is so much fun and I will definitely do it again!
I hope you will try it too!! 🙂

Beginner Crochet Circle Scarf Pattern

SO this is going to be a super short post.

But i just wanted to share my crochet pattern that I came up with to teach my beginners.

Stitches Needed:
chain
double crochet
slip stitch

Supplies:
J hook
skein of yarn

Super super simple pattern!

1. Make a chain long enough to loosely go around your neck twice.

2. Turn and double crochet all the way to the end.

3. Repeat until your scarf is wide enough to suit your taste.

4. Slip stitch the ends together. Finish off.

Ta-da! You have a scarf!

And it’s really easy to make!

If you try it out instagram it and use the hashtag #projectartroom and #projectartroomproject

Let Me Introduce You To Someone…

So a few weeks ago I was having a day where everything going on in the world got to me.

It’s easy to get caught up in the “current events” and maybe get worried.

As I mentioned in my last post my church did a fast and I really enjoyed it! I emerged myself in The Word of God and I learned. God has a way of making things happen exactly at the time you need them! He brings understanding if you just spend some time alone with Him!

Matthew 22:37 MSG

Jesus said, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer and intelligence.’

As we started the fast we had a list of reading to do…one chapter a day, so along with that I, spur of the moment (if that is really such a thing), decided that I should read Matthew along with the daily Bible reading for the fast. Definitely a God thing! It was exactly what I needed it brought comfort and understand. Near the end of the book it talks about the end times, which I fully believe we are living in. If you have any doubt about where you will end up If Jesus were to return this very second, or you have fear and anxiety about things going on in this world, I encourage you to draw close to the Creator of the Universe who is not phased by the things of this world! Ask Him for forgiveness, and ask Him to come live in your heart and to use you to tell others about Him!

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

He is the Peace Speaker and any once of anxiety is washed away by Him!

Ask Him the comfort you and He will!

What i’ve come to find out is that, if you invest time with The Lord for the right reasons and I promise you will not regret it!
Don’t do it to put yourself on a pedestal but do it to please the King of Kings!

My blog isn’t usually about this, but I felt led to write this post tonight so I’m going with it!

If you’ve never asked Jesus into your heart, i encourage you to do so…

It’s as easy as ABC,

Admit that you’re a sinner, (we all are!)

Believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that he died on the cross for your sins,

Confess that Jesus is Lord

and ask Him to forgive your sins and come into your heart.

Maybe you are sitting there reading this and you have never even heard about The Lord or have no idea who or what I am talking about. Let me introduce you to the Peace Speaker, the Great I Am, the King of Kings, the Creator of the Universe. He loves you more than you can even fathom!
He loved you enough to die for you!
Oh how he loves!

September Favorites 2014 + Name Change

Hey!

It is the first of October!

That means, it’s getting a little cooler (or a lot cooler), the leaves are changing, Starbucks is serving pumpkin spice latte’s,

i’m finally getting back in the groove of school (Junior year, ew!),

It is seasonally appropriate to bake pumpkin cupcakes (my specialty!),

all of my favorite shows are back for new seasons,

and it’s scarf weather!!

But September was a really good month too so I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite things from last month with you!

So here it goes, in no particular order! 😉

Instagram:

instagram is one of my staple social media places. Love it!

Like i said in my last post i follow a lot of crafters and

what I love about the crafters I follow is that they link to other crafters and so on.

So I’m always finding new people to follow!!

One of my top favorites that i just started following last month is,

Amanda Rydell!

I love the bright colorful airiness of her instagram feed!

Love love love!

I was going to share a pic from her instagram but I cant pick just one, so go check it out for yourself! 🙂

Her blog is www.becraftyworkshop.com/blog/

Next is more about her blog but i found her through instagram,

Ali Edwards

Love her blog and I love her writing style!

Another thing that i looovveee is her workspace!!!

I think we all kinda have a dream workspace idea, her’s is my new dream.

It’s beautiful!

check it out here, and check out her blog here.

Some people that are always my favorites on instagram are Christy Tomlinson, Rachel Vanoven, Heidi Swapp, Pam Garrison, and Ana Victoriana. Some artists, some crafters, some photographers…all great!

Pinterest of course is always a favorite!

I dont even know if it qualifies as a favorite, because it is literally part of my life!

But other than the usual browsing I do on pinterest, i’ve been searching for scrapbooking inspiration and ideas for my first scrapbook that i just finished which is all about my missions trip to Colombia, South America this summer.

Check out my scrapbook layouts board! 🙂

Youtube!

again I huge source of inspiration for my scrapbook.

here is a list of my favorite channels:

Ashley Laura

Irit Landgraf

Shimelle Laine

Kraftin Kate

Mercy Tiara

Amelie Mordret

OhSnapGonzo

This Shimelle Laine video is my absolute favorite!!

I have watched it at least 3 times and i will keep watching it over and over!

I love how she explains to find the special moments in everyday activities!

Go watch it! I guarantee you will learn something from it!

Outside of crafting I have some favorites too!

First of all my church is doing a fast, and even though I am fasting something I love it has been totally worth it

because i’ve spent more time in my Bible reading time and more time in praying and with God.

I’m loving this because i’ve learned alot from it and it has really helped me.

I wish I could say working out has been a favorite of mine for last month but…i think we all know it isnt! 🙂

But I have great hopes for October!

Now for the other part of the title of this post.

I loved the name of this blog when i made it, but it doesnt quite seem to work now.

like I said in my last post I want to eventually have my own craft line…and if that were to ever happen I want a blog name that will grow into that so I feel like a name change is necessary.

I havent decided on a new name yet, but I just wanted to let you know that, that might be happening soon. 😉

Thanks for reading this post!

Tell me below what your favorite thing about fall is, what your favorite thing of september was, or what my blogs new name should be if I change it…

Thanks again! 🙂

Bloglovin! + a dream of mine!

I’ve just discovered bloglovin.com..

Lets just say i’m going a little crazy, looking us scrapbook, photography, and craft blogs.

I love finding new blogs about things that I love!

My favorite new blog, that I have found through this experience is:

Maggie Holmes design

Go check her out! Her blog is super cute!

While finding  new blogs to follow i found one called

Scrapbook Obsession

Her newest blog post talks about “5 things I’ll do When…”

and it got me thinking about goals and dreams.

So I thought, since I wanted to share this bloglovin thing with you and I dont have anything else to blog right now, I would tell you about a dream of mine, and then maybe you can comment and tell me one of your dreams?

Here it goes:

I have always been into art and crafty things, and its definitely part of who I am.

But recently I realized hey I bet there are crafters on websites other than Pinterest too!

So I found tons of crafters and new people to follow on instagram!

Woohoo!

A few of which have new craft lines available in stores…
Wait what?!

You mean people other than nationally known brands can have craft lines too?

I thought that was so cool, and just something I had never really thought about before.

So that’s a new dream of mine; To create a craft products line and have it sold in stores.

🙂

Crazy?

Maybe so, but stranger things have definitely happened. 😉

Thanks for taking the time to read my post!

Leave me a comment and tell me some of your dreams!

DIY Office Chic – May, Craft 1

Welcome to the first post of my new series DIY Office Chic!

There will be 4-5 crafts to go with each room.

Here is the first craft to go with this months office from Ashley Ella Design!

Image

-Supplies-

• Mason Jar or some kind of container

• Any color acrylic paint

• Chalkboard paint

• Paint Brush

Contact Paper or Painters Tape and a Xacto Knife

• Marker/Pen

Image

First pour some of your acrylic paint into your jar.

ImageImage

Turn your jar until the paint has coated the entire inside of the jar.

I used a paint brush to get the inside rim of my jar.

Turn your jar over on a disposable surface and wait for it to dry.

ImageImage

While you wait, make a heart shape and draw it on your contact paper,

dont draw it close to the edge because you’re making a stencil.

Cut a square around the heart.

If you dont have contact paper, put some tape on your jar (once it is dry) and cut your heart shape with the Xacto knife.

Image

Cut the heart shape out

.Image

Peel the paper off and stick the stencil to the jar.

ImageImage

Paint the chalkboard paint on..

This brand takes a few coats; its not as good as spray paint, but it works! 🙂

Image

After it dries completely, peel off the stencil.

With this brand of paint i had to be really careful because the paint started peeling too.

I traced around the heart with my Xacto knife and then peeled the stencil off.

After that, take a piece of chalk and turn it sideways and drag it all over the chalkboard surface;

Then dust off the majority of the chalk (I like to use a fluffy paint brush).

Image

And then you’re done!!

Use your chalk or chalk marker and write whatever you want to!

If you do this craft post it to instagram or twitter and use the hashtag #OCmaydiy

Thanks for reading!

Check back next week for Craft 2!
